Taste nature’s nectar at one of these local Maple Syrup Festivals.

The sap is running and festivals are springing up in celebration. That means that families can look forward to wagon rides, pancake breakfasts, sugar shack tours, tales of traditional maple syrup making and all the other activities that are held during this special time of year.

March 12-13, 19-20, 25-27 Maplefest, McLean Berry Farm, Buckhorn:
Wagon rides, pancakes, live music, toffee on snow and farm animals. $7/person, free/child 2 & under, $25/family of 4

March 12-20, 26-27, April 2-3 Purple Woods Maple Syrup Festival, Purple Woods Conservation Area,
Pancakes, horse-drawn wagon rides, historical displays and more. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

March 12-13 Warkworth Maple Syrup Festival,
Free parking and shuttle between village and Sandy Flat Sugar Bush. Sap making, taffy on the snow, horse drawn sleigh rides, snowshoe competition, log sawing contest.

March 19-20, 25-27 Brooks Farms, Mount
Train or wagon rides, tours, sap and syrup tastings. Admission: $9/ea,  free/child 2 & under

March 19-20 Maple in the County, Prince Edward
Visit one of the participating sugarbushes, enjoy pancake breakfasts with fresh maple syrup, taffy on snow, S’mores, petting zoos, BBQ sausages, lumberjack show, artisan vendors, wineries and more.

March 20 MaplefestHR Frink Conservation Area,
Learn how to tap a tree, collect sap, see outdoor displays and enjoy a campfire and pancakes.

March 26 Maple Syrup Day, Ganaraska Forest,
Tour of the sap collecting route, sugar shack, crafts, face painting & pioneer games. Live music & pancakes. $12/adult & $6/child (16 & under).

April 2-3 Sunderland Maple Syrup Festival,
Bus tours to the sugar bush, pancakes and maple syrup, pancake eating contests, arts and crafts shows, races, cloggers, musicians.

May 7 Maplefest, Bowmanville:
Maple products and treats, pancakes, live music, animals from the Bowmanville Zoo.
